 | God made us in His image (Genesis 1:27). That
means we have rational, moral, and volitional qualities just like He does --
unlike any other created being. |
 | God originated human life (Genesis 1:26-27), and He
sustains it. Psalm 139:15-17 says that He superintends every life from its
earliest days in the womb. |
 | He is so intimately involved in every aspect of our
lives that the Bible says, "If it were His intention and He withdrew His
spirit and breath, all mankind would perish together and man would return to
the dust" (Job 34:14-15) |
 | God has a plan for each human life. Psalm 139 clearly
shows this, as well as Ephesians 2:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:15. He - and He
alone - is in a position to know when that plan has been completed. |
 | ALL human life is valuable, then, because God creates
and sustains it in His image for His purpose. Those are His "ways" that are so
much higher than ours. Deliberately violating them is the Bible's definition
of sin. Living in light of them results in joy and peace, the "abundant life"
He promises. It shapes our view of other and the value God places on them. |
 | "This day I call heaven and earth as witness against
you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now
choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love
the LORD your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the LORD is
your life..." (Deuteronomy 30: 19-20) |
